The University of Rochester, NY is one of Americas top-tier research universities with more than 2,000 faculty and 9,300 students. The Danforth Dining Hall at Rochester by Mancini Duffy architects features more than two hundred 1006 Navy Chairs made of 80% recycled aluminum and 111 Navy Chairs in Charcoal made of recycled Coca-Cola bottles. Sir Terence Conrans 80th birthday is celebrated this year with a major exhibition called The way we live now at the Design Museum London, exploring the impact and legacy of the eighty-year-old designer. Emeco is happy to announce the opening of the MUSE School in California this month! The “local, global and green” school was selected for the donation of this years Emeco 2111 Prize. The 2111 No Waste Prize is an annual award given to the project taking the highest amount of waste out of the landfill, encouraging projects with an educational commitment to a sustainable world. Designed by Conran Architects, the new Dining Hall at Bryanston school in Dorset UK is brighter, warmer and more welcoming with natural wood flooring and complementary shades of grey and white. The chairs used in the main Dining Hall are the Emeco 111 Navy Chair based on a design first commissioned in the 1940’s by the US Navy. The Dining Hall plays an important part in Bryanston life, serving over 2,300 meals a day to hungry pupils and staff. "We are delighted at last to have a dining facility that matches the quality of the school’s famously good food."
